Day 10: Snorkeling at Cano Island

 March 12

What did we do?

A great day of snorkeling at Cano Island with Alexa and her team from Yemanya Expeditions ($100 per person) They are a friendly and professional operation and we felt safe throughout the entire tour.

It takes about forty-five minutes to reach the island from Drake Bay and along the way we saw dolphins and some rays jumping out of the water. We snorkeled in the clear warm water at two different spots and saw many types of fish, eels, turtles, and even reef sharks. They provided snacks on board (thankfully not KIND Bars) and a tasty casada lunch at the end of the tour at Hotel Jinetes De Osa. I would highly recommend booking through them.

Travel Tip:

If you go on a Cano Island snorkeling take care with sun exposure. Use lots of sunscreens and consider wearing a long sleeve rash guard type shirt. I thought I was being careful but ended up with a nasty sunburn on my arms and the backs of my upper legs. It took three days before I could comfortably sit down on a toilet.

No actual snorkeling pics but Dave took these at our stop on Cano Island
