Day 5: A day at Playa Ventanas

 March 7

What did we do?

When you're fast asleep by 9 pm it is pretty easy to be awake at sunrise, and we were, enjoying our first cup of coffee and the early morning wildlife.

After breakfast, we drove down the hill and then fifteen minutes south on Route 34 to Playa Ventanas. We missed low tide and being able to walk through the caves but enjoyed the beach which borders the verdant jungle hills. Parking costs $4 for the day and we rented a canopy and chairs for $10. There are several stalls on the beach selling food and drinks. Security warning: we saw broken car window glass in the parking lot, so made sure to follow our normal practice of not leaving anything in the car.

On our way back to Casa Namaste we made a detour to Playa Dominacilto to walk the beach and watch the surfers at high tide.

Where did we eat?

Casa Namaste and a picnic lunch at Playa Ventanas. (I think we splashed out this day and had sliced watermelon with our KIND Bars.) The BM Supermercado in town was our favorite grocery store in Uvita and we also liked the Panaderia Bakery located directly across the street that sold yummy homemade pastries at very reasonable prices.
